Alpha Discovery Scanner: How the S&P500 Ranking Engine Works

TL;DR
- • The scanner converts multi-factor data into a ranked shortlist.
- • Use rank stability over time, not a single snapshot.
- • Prioritize names where score and trend agree.
0) Where to Find This Widget
Open the 12-button dashboard and go to ANALYSIS_2.
1) What Problem This Widget Solves
Scanning hundreds of symbols manually is slow and inconsistent. The scanner standardizes selection so you can focus on decision quality.
2) The Reading Order That Works
- • First: top-ranked names by score
- • Second: rank persistence for 3-5 sessions
- • Third: execution timing with trend confirmation
3) Practical Playbook: If X, Then Y
- • If a symbol stays in Top 5 for multiple sessions, then promote it to active watchlist.
- • If score rises but trend weakens, then wait for price confirmation.
- • If score and trend both weaken, then remove from active list.
4) Scoring Logic (Quant View)
ExplosiveScore = Σ (wi × normalized_factori)
Use score bands (e.g., Top 5, Top 15) as ranking tiers, then combine with momentum context before execution.
5) Common Mistakes
- • Treating rank as a direct buy signal
- • Ignoring score persistence
- • Overfitting to one day of scanner output
